Germany and Italy both followed the idea of Totalitarianism after the war. Totalitarianism is a method of governing by giving absolute control to the leader or dictator. These countries resorted to Totalitarianism because of the Great Depression. They did this because as the Depression became severe, leaders of the Nazi party gained power. People became more and more desperate for help, and would go to anything to save their country. Eventually, Hitler rises further in power in Germany and finally becomes in total control of Germany, as well as Mussolini in Italy. These two leaders were both powerful in the Nazi party. The people of Germany were okay with this because of Hitlers promises and pride in Germany. He helped the German economy vastly, this gave the people of Germany someone to trust. Mussolini was inspirational because of his pride in Italy as well, the people trusted his ideas.

Germany and Americas actions against the Great Depression were very different. Germany looked towards the idea of Totalitarianism, while America kept their Democracy. Also, Germany pushed towards the war while America resorted to Isolationism. This means that they tried to stay away from the war, and solve the problems inside the country.
After World War One, Germany was blamed for all of the destruction that was done. With this, they were asked to pay more than the country had, and because of this they fell into a economic failure. The Nazi party, aft er gaining control later on, begins to blame the Jews for Germany's failure in World War One. This is called anti semitism. America does not become Anti-Semitics, and eventually fights for the Jews freedom.
