What happened on 9/11?
9/11 was a planned terrorist attack on America that was conducted by Al Qaeda. The idea was sparked by the famous Osama Bin Laden. Four planes were hijacked by terrorists who planned to fly them into Americas Pentagon, World Trade centers ,and White House. Three planes were successful, hitting the Pentagon and both towers of the world trade center. The other plane crashed in a field off course because of the passengers on the plane, they stopped the hijackers from successfully crashing into the white house.
WHY DID OSAMA WANT THIS?
Osama and most people of the Islamic religion believed that Palestine belonged to them, the holy land of Islam. Yet its not only a sacred area for the Muslims, Palestine is significant to many religions, including the Hebrews (Jews), Muslims, and Christians. The catch was that America was allies with Israel (the Jews), and that was keeping Islam from retaking Israel, the holy land. Osama made it clear that he would take action until they reclaim what he believes is rightfully theirs.
How did this lead to wars in Afghanistan and iraq?
After Al Qaeda attacked on 9/11 President Bush believed that America needed to take action against these terrorists, before they attacked us once again. America cant risk another attack like 9/11, so on October 7th 2001 we declared war on Afghanistan. The war in Iraq was started not because of 9/11 but based of the fact that we need to attack them before they attacked us, similar to Afghanistan. Iraq was known to possess WMDs and President Bush and many citizens of America are worried of further terrorism attacks that threaten the lives of the innocent. These bombs could cause great catastrophes to America and threaten the safety of Americas people.
