Discrimination against "subhumans"
Anti-Semitism is the act of discriminating Jewish people or being against Jewish beliefs and customs. The Nazis discriminated the Jews because the Jews weren’t the “master race” that the Nazis believed was superior. The Jews were considered sub-humans and didn’t have the blue eye/ blonde hair stereotype the Nazis preached. The dominant race the Nazis wanted was the Aryan Race and because the Jews were not of this race they were considered subhumans. The Nazis did not even consider them to be real people. The Aryan Race in Europe included Nordic, Mediterranean, Dinar, Alpine and East Baltic peoples. Hitler’s main goal was to have Europe be a “pure” continent. This meant eliminating all non-Aryan people. Of course, this included the Jews. The Germans also believed that the Jews were the reason why they lost World War I, and that the Jews were the cause of the economic crisis that developed in Germany. Jews had been a scapegoat in Europe for a long time. Hitler grew up in Vienna, Austria, where the mayor was very anti-Semitic and hatred for Jews was widespread. Living in a community that was anti-Semitic and had hatred for the Jews, it was no surprise for Hitler to grow up and lead his country the same way he was taught.
