In the interwar period between the two world wars many countries around the globe went into a great depression. Many horrific things resulted because of this depression. There were fascist revolutions, totalitarians, military governments and isolationism. Fascism was huge during the great depression. Totalitarians such as Hitler and Mussolini were fascist. They blamed certain groups for the depression and sought them out to bring their countries back to former glory. A famous example of this is how Hitler blamed the Jews for the great depression and then began the holocaust to exterminate them. Hitler and Mussolini were voted into there spots of power, they had not used any force or any others means of taking power other than relating to the public. These countries were suffering and Hitler and Mussolini had promised to bring the unemployment down by starting jobs and to end the depression. Japan had started a military government during this time because what they had been doing was not successful so they decided to strengthen their military. America during all of this had decided to keep away from Europe, they although still suffered greatly from the depression. They didn't want to repeat the same conflict again so they isolated themselves from everybody else.
